My Word for the Year

2021 the year from hell, or was it? When I started to write this, it was Wednesday and the last day of parliament where it was described as ‘a year from hell’. Below are some quotes from various MP’s that have a similar tone.

"Unpredictable" said COVID-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins.

"Reset" said National MP Simon Bridges.

"Challenging” said Finance Minister Grant Robertson.

"Hard” said Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

"What a ride!" said Māori Party co-leader Rawiri Waititi.

"Chaos” said Green Party co-leader Marama Davidson - a word echoed by ACT leader David Seymour.

"Bonkers” said Green Party co-leader James Shaw.

I don’t disagree with some of the above comments but, it got me thinking about what my word of the year for 2021 is and could I narrow it down to just one word? Well, it turns out my word of the year is the same as the ‘major wordsmiths’ whose tradition towards the end of December, is to choose one word that sums up the shared experiences of the year.

On a lighter note, and to sign off for 2021, I would like to thank you for your support during the past year, your business is appreciated. I sincerely hope that you get a break to spend time with family and friends and may your Christmas be happy and blessed.

Merry Christmas
