My Word for 2022

At the beginning of the year, I thought the year was going slowly and dragging on but as we got to the middle, I decided it was flying by. In all honesty like many people, I will be glad to see the back of 2022, just like 2020 and 2021.

The common theme coming through when looking back over the last few years is when we ask people to describe the year/s we get ‘shit', 'rollercoaster', 'terrible', 'challenging', 'shitshow', 'messy', 'disaster', and 'clusterf**k’ and I think this is because we feel that COVID has made things ‘awful’, ‘difficult’, and ‘unpredictable’. However, if you take the emotive feelings away it looks like the weather has been the largest disruption factor to growers and packers through 2022.

Given that I have no control on the weather but want to look forward to 2023 (it’s 6 sleeps away) I decided instead of writing a New Year’s resolution (can never decide on one and when I do, I generally don’t stick to it) I am going to use a focus word. Why a focus word you ask, ‘well it will be the one word that encapsulates what I want to focus and improve on’ to allow the positive possibility of the next year ahead.

In finishing up for 2022 I would like to thank you all for your support during the past year and to wish you all the warmest greetings for this festive season and best wishes for happiness this New Year (may you all thrive).

Merry Christmas
