A Good Story

We are delighted to have launched a brand-new compostable fruit label to meet the NZ labelling regulations from 1 July this year. We call this product Sinclair® Natureflex ™- T54. The material is certified Home Compostable and while the adhesive remains our regular food safe recipe, we think we are close to cracking the complete code very soon.

The Sinclair sustainable R and D remains intense with multiple compostable options on the go. The trialing in NZ and around the world has been massive this year, with a new generation compostable label applied to tens of thousands of trays and hundreds of thousands of fruit. The performance results are very encouraging, and we have many of the critical certifications already completed. Work continues, we know there is more work to do here. Our current products have been perfected over 40 years of labelling, there is no way we are slowing down development now.

I get it, fruit labels are not everyone’s favourite thing, and well, maybe it is just me out there where labels are actually my favourite thing. Labels are essential for realising the true value for our IP varieties and premium produce, connecting growers with consumers and pricing correctly in market. And what a great enhancement to an existing produce story, a genuine sustainable labelling option. This is a good story to tell.
