New institute could ‘transform hort sector’
A new technology research institute called Plantech is planned for Western Bay of Plenty using the region’s horticulture industry as a testing ground for new technologies and services.
As horticulture in NZ surges and as we look to fulfil projected yields and growth at an operational level the need for better technology is paramount in orchard, packhouse and boardroom discussions. Recently formed institute, Plantech, confirms ministerial recognition of such industry needs.
